Global Issues through Music
In this course students will learn about Global Issues through the lives and work of musicians and singers from a variety of countries. You will be expected to research relevant topics and be prepared to discuss their findings in class. The final grade for the course will be decided by continuous assessment and a final report.

Scotland on Screen
Through this course students will learn about current issues in Scotland as well as exploring the daily lives and experiences of Scottish people. The final grade for the course will be decided by continuous assessment and a final report. There is no set text, however students will be expected to view all the films and be prepared to discuss them in class.
The course will use four films to show differing views of Scotland:
Whisky Galore (Alexander Mackendrick, 1949)
Local Hero (Bill Forsyth, 1983)
Trainspotting (Danny Boyle, 1996)
Ratcatcher (Lynne Ramsay, 1999)
Other materials will be provided by the instructor.
Students’ Work
English 1 Vocabulary Notebooks
Students are encouraged to keep notebooks for recording vocabulary as part of a sequence of learner training lessons.
English 2 Poster Presentation
Students prepared and gave presentations on a topic of their choice which were assessed for their final course grade.
Tokyo Tower
Students practised giving opinions, making suggestions and agreeing and disagreeing in an activity which involved designing and building a free-standing tower. They then explained their designs to the class in a mini presentation.

Education UK has up to date information about studying in Scotland. BBC Scotland has Music, Nature, Sport and latest news from Scotland, as well as some great short film and radio clips
